Unraveling extra rows by mistake

I knitted about 30 rows in different colours and wanted to undo 2 of the 30 rows. I ended up undoing more than 2 rows by mistake because the knitting went out of control. How do you unravel it properly and not undo extra rows please?

If it is at most one row, I just do undo one stitch at the time. If it is several rows, then I take a smaller set of needles and i pick up the right leg of each stitch at the point where I want to stop ripping, before pulling out the working needles. Then I rip until the new needles are stopping me.
