Unraveling a finished project

hey everyone!

this question may be a bit weird, so here goes…
i finished my first project a few weeks ago, a striped scarf made with merino wool. as i was weaving in the ends, my little sister grabbed my scissors when i wasn’t looking and snipped a part off of the scarf, so now its ruined. i don’t want to throw the entire thing away since i know i can reuse most of the yarn if only i could find a way to unravel it easily (there are a number of threads sticking out of the end where it was cut, but it’s taking me forever to “frog” it properly!). Does anyone know a good way to unravel a finished project?

My suggestion would be to just unravel it to the point past where it was cut, and pick up the stitches. Then bind off, so that you still have most of your scarf. Other than that, I got no advice. Sorry.
