Unravel stitches?

Hi.What does it mean when it says insert the left needle into the first stitch worked on the right needle from front to back. What does it mean by front to back? because it’s the 1st step on how to unravel a one stitch at a time in a knitting book that i got.

Put the left needle in front of the left side of the stitch and slide it behind the right side of the stitch.

The front of the needle is the surface facing you.
The back is the surface facing away from you, eg,
the part you can’t see while you’re knitting.
Of course needles, being cylindrical, don’t actually have fronts and backs,
but that’s the convention for figuring out where to poke your needle.

Thanks for the information.
