Unknitting a Lace Pattern

I am knitting a sleeveless shell with 4 lace pattern insert. I am having difficulty unknitting lace pattern—yo, slip stitch, knit one and slip stitch over knit one, then knit 2 together and yarn over, then knit… The lace pattern is every other row and at times I do the lace pattern when I should just knit the 4 stitches. I just can’t seem to unknit the lace pattern correctly. Any pointers?

Thanks

I don’t have much problem, though I don’t try to ‘unslip’ the slipped st back over. I just insert my left needle into the 2 of them together and pull out the stitch. That makes the 2 sts ‘backwards’ on the needle but if you’re going to do a skp again over the same sts (which is the same as a ssk, btw) then it works out. It’s fine too if you just have to knit them, knit into the back loop. But if you have to do a k2tog, then you need to adjust them so they’re mounted the right way.
