Uneven knitting

Hi all thanks for welcoming me to the forum!

I started knitting for an hour or so a week around New Year (I took it up in memory of my grandmother).

I absolutely love it but I’m struggling a bit with ensuring that the lengths of my knitting are as equal as the mid section.

This has happened a few times, so I always unravel, go back to square one…but it keeps happening! :frowning:

I’ve attached a photo for reference, and if anyone could enlighten me that would be much appreciated!

My guess is that you have somehow taken the working yarn over the needle and thus created more stitches.
