So I’m knitting the “Fetching” fingerless wrist warmer thingies from knitty.com and I used a size smaller needles than the pattern recomended. I thought that I had increased the number of rows right but when i finished, bound off, and then tried it on, it was ridiculously short. Since i havn’t done the one for the other hand (the right hand) yet i can make that one long enough but i would like to be able to make the left hand one longer. I’m sure there’s a way to take out the bind off and keep knitting but i can’t figure it out. Probably because i bind off really tight and i tied it off and wove it in already. Any suggestions/tips/instructions?
(p.s. i’m so glad i found this website again. i forgot about it for a while when my computer dumped my bookmarks o.o )
You’ll have to unweave and pick out your last stitch (or cut it if you’re feeling bold) and you should be able to pull the bind-off out. The stitches will pop out and you can reinsert your needle.
Ah, I see. Thanks. I will attempt to dig out the end of the yarn but i don’t know how successful ( or brave) i will be feeling. (Am i the only one who slightly panics about getting scissors anywhere near my knitted objects?) Maybe i will just knit up the other one the same size and find someone with smaller hands to give them to…it might be less aggravation in the end…
The way I figure it is that if you want to make it bigger, you’ll have to attach more yarn anyway, right? So if you happen to have to pull out two rows to compensate for the snip, you’re only one row shorter than you were before.
