Understanding armhole decreases

I undersatand what to do, but confused what to do, when.

So, I do the first 2 rows. That’s ok.
Then it says the last row firms the decrease. I’m not sure when I start. Do I purl the WS as per the pattern, then the decrease row on RS, WS purl, RS decrease etc until this is repeated a further 3 times until I reach the required number of stitches.
Hope my question makes sense.

You have it exactly. After the first decrease (RS) row, purl a row (call it row 1) then dec on rows 2,4, 6 and 8.
