Ummmmm, a little confused?

I am currently working on the Bold and Bulky Mini Cardigan by Stefanie Japel. You can view the pattern here: http://cache.lionbrand.com/patterns/FittedKnitsMiniCardi.html

I am making the medium. Ok, it says:

Row 3: KFB, [knit to 1 st before marker, yo,k1, sl marker, yo] 4 times, knit to last st, KFB-56sts.

Ok does that mean that I KFB, then repeat what is in teh [ ] four times? or do I KFB four times as well?

Also at the end where it says KFB-56sts, if I knit to the last st, what am I supposed KFB with?

Is that a valid question or am I just not getting it?
I’m confused. Can you tell? LOL

I just made this sweater! I think you’re supposed to do what’s in between the brackets four times. As for the KFB at the end, I read that as saying knit to (as in until) the last stitch, then KFB the last stitch.

I believe the 56 is telling you how many stitches you’re supposed to have after you finish up the row, so you can double-check that you handled all the increases correctly.

That’s what it meant. I don’t know why I’m acting as if I have NEVER knit before lol. I guess I was just thinking about it too much lol. Thanks for taking time out to reply!
