Anyone from Maine on here? Bonus points for around L-A, Windham or South Paris… I need knitting friends… None of my friends understand my happy place (i.e. LYS).

HI! I am in Sebago (well right now I am in South Portland-working) Which LYSs do you visit?

Hi, Anne! There is one about ten minutes away from me in Norway called the Irish Ewe, and the other is in Auburn (15 minutes away) called Quilt Essentials. They’re both really cool places. I don’t know of any others near me, though. I live in Oxford. Sebago is near Windham, isn’t it?
Good Morning Kahlua!

Yes Sebago is near Windham - we are actually between Windham and Bridgton.

Quilt Essentials… sounds like a fun place. I wish I were more familiar with Auburn. We use to shop there a bit when I lived in Rangeley. May have to take a ride and find this shop :cheering: My husband use to race at Oxford-he gave it up shortly after we met (not due to my influence! lol) So I never got to watch him race. I am not sure if I am disappointed or happy about that lol… might have made me nervous.

The closest LYS for me would be Korner Knitters in Standish-the folks there are very friendly and helpful!
I tend to go to AC Moore in S. Portland, it is close to work-actually on my way home.

I had better get some work done… enjoy your day!
going to be warm - no ocean breeze today :passedout:

I am in Gorham on the Standish line not even a 5 minute drive from Korner Knitters I love that place.
Blue Eyes… how is #114 now? I have been traveling into work on route #25 lately to avoid the construction.
Hope you are staying cool today

anne
It is still a mess I think we avoid it as much as possible too.We just came in from outside the kids were playing in the sprinkler.
:cheering:I wanna play too! lol… use to love doing that with my daughter when she was small. I know I am weird but I love the smell of water from the hose… must be the memories it envokes

Kind of figured that 114 was still a mess. There is a sign in Gorham before you get to GHOP that warns of rough road ahead.

anne
Unfortunatley our sprinkler time didn’t last long because the little one got sunscreen in his eyes and tried to rub it out with a sandy hands. I like the smell of water from the hose too or maybe it is a combonation of the water and the grass I am not sure.

poor babe… that had to sting.

anne
Yeah he was not happy but he is better now.
I hope your little one is doing better now, blueeyes28. I know where Gorham is, and I think I know how to get to Standish, too. lol
Anne - Quilt Essentials is fantastic - they’ve got lots of pretty fabric, too. Tons of books, and so much yarn, and a big bargain corner!
Bargain corner! :woot: What sweet words those are lol. Will have to plan on a visit then. Really need to get back into quilting again too. I want to make the Mariner’s compass for DH. So many things to do and so little time lol. Work really gets in the way of life. lol

kahluakiggy are you close to Rumford or is that a different area all together?
I am moving to Fort Fairfield in September!! Are their any northern Maine knitters around?? I am so excited!
You will be up in the “county” lol. My cousin lives in Caribou and loves it! What brings you to that end of the state? If you don’t mind me asking… :)

I’m in Madison. It’s in Central Maine, pretty close to Waterville.
I absolutely love Halcyon Yarn in Brunswick, although I don’t get there very often.
We drove by the quite by accident a couple weeks ago… I am not sure that I could find it again lol. Brunswick is very congested traffic-wise this time of year.

Rumford is about 45 minutes away from me. I LOVE Brunswick, I didn’t know there was a yarn store there! I’ll have to check it out next time I go up to Bailey Island.
Blueeyes–do you know if Korner Knitters does classes? I would like to take a sock class for circular needles. I have e-mailed them but never get a response. Should call I guess. :)
Thanks!
