Let’s see…
Sore throat…check.
Bad, persistent cough…check.
Headache…check.
Tiredness…check.
Achey body…check.
Lungs full of yucky stuff…check.
Diarrhea, slight case thereof (sorry, TMI, I know)…check.
Currently living in tourist town filled with mainly tourists…check.
Uh oh.
Looks like I’m going to be making a call to the clinic tomorrow, just in case…
Aargh.
Get well soon, Zina!
RX: Rest, juice, rest, knit (maybe)!
Thanks, D! Hopefully it’s just a bad cold or something. But I’d better call the clinic just in case, first thing in the morning.
Oh yeah, that’s the symptom that really made me suspicious…the thought of knitting has NO appeal whatsoever! I must be really sick…
Yup, sounds like the piggy thing. I wouldn’t worry, though. My cousin had it and his doctor said don’t bother coming in, that people are making a far bigger deal about it than necessary, and that if you’re sick, you shouldn’t be venturing out anyway. The usual flu kills far more people than H1N1! And only if you have very serious health problems to begin with. So just take it easy and drink and drink and drink. So sorry, you’ll feel better soon!
(from a safe distance on the Internt, of course:) ).
Ugh… hope it’s a quick virus and you feel better soon!! I was sick for two weeks the beginning of June with nearly the same symptoms although I did have a sore throat at first, too. I didn’t go to the doctor though. I tend not to unless there is really a problem. No need dragging my sick self out if all they are going to say is “it’s a virus, go home and rest”…
Yeah, the only reasons I figure I should call the clinic is because my partner still has pneumonia, and they might very well want to start feeding him some kind of drug program if I have swine flu, and two, this IS a tourist town, and swine flu here would have to be very carefully watched, as it could decimate the summer’s business if swine flu got out here. So I’d better report it as a possible so they can track it, you know?
Thanks for the good wishes, though, because it’s always comforting to know people are out there thinking of you.
Sure, I understand. Let us know how you do and get some rest!
Doc says almost impossible to tell over the phone, says it’s somewhat unlikely, as I don’t think I have had a temperature, but he certainly doesn’t want me to come into the clinic to check.
He is suspicious tho, because I’ve had quite a bit of contact over the last week or so with people who have been traveling all over. So, uncertain! He said the same as Rachel though – not to worry unless I start getting really really sick, and just treat it like your normal very bad cold or virus.
How are you feeling? poor you - but I am glad I am a bit north of you! Should I inform RTE?
Irishmam
The cold part’s gotten to sound worse, as it’s now moved out of my chest and into by dose, but I actually feel better than I did yesterday, when I thought I might expire and kept falling asleep in the middle of sentences and stuff.
Thing is, I spent time this last week with people from the US and people from Australia who have been traveling quite a bit and were in Ireland for Willie Clancy Week in Miltown Malbay last week. So who knows where I got it from! I just don’t want to go spreading it all over Ireland…
