Two strand cast on

Thank you very much for Roxanne Richardson’s link to her video. It is great, and she includes a section in the video on picking up stitches in garter.
Also, she said and had a link to her playlist on picking up stitches. I will definitely look at that playlist.
Thank you salmonmac for your help. It is invaluable.

It’s going to be a very attractive and useful bag. Please post a photo when you finish!

Hello, I am still working on the tote. And am wondering how I should join 2 new strands of yarn? I am thinking of just using a simple knot for each strand and hiding the 2 knots in the inside of the tote. It is a fairly large tote and I am afraid that it will stretch a lot and the weight will somehow undo any neater or more elegant knitting with seams. Does anyone have a better solution please?

Thank you for any ideas.

If you can weave the single strands one at a time into the fabric of the bag that would be a neat solution. Somehow knots always manage to show up on the outside.
This is a sturdy, almost invisible weave.

Thankyou salmonmac for reading and answering. I will watch the video before joining the two new skeins. Thanks again.

I like the weaving in salmonmac posted.

You might also consider if the ends might be useful in the construction of the bag. If i remember correctly you pick up an edge on the base (and this might be where you are now joining in new yarn) work it flat, then seam the 4 sides together at the end. The seaming will require another yarn strand and it may be possible to leave a longer tail, here at the pick up, to use for seaming. The longer tail can still be woven in to secure it for instance working one direction a few stitches then working back towards the seam edge for the same number of stitches and leave the very long tail there until you use it to seam up with.
The seaming might be possible, and neater, with a single strand rather than double so you can still weave in the 2 strands individully as salmonmac said.

Thankyou for reading and commenting Creations. I appreciate it a lot. I do like the video salmonmac posted. I am presently knitting a side to the base and I ran out of yarn. I need to join 2 new yarns and continue knitting. Thanks for your suggestion about the weaving.
