LOL I went back and reread your post and reread my response and decided I didn’t want to lose my expired brownie points…I was sure it was just too confusing.
Knitting socks really isn’t hard. The hard part is getting started. I did find a pattern for leg warmers that you might try and then we can help you figure out the toe when you get there. I spent many hours searching and reading and watching videos before I attempted socks. What I ended up using my first try was Lifestyle Toe Up - No Swatch Needed. My hang up was the gauge swatch. What if I got it wrong? I did not want to put all that time and effort in and find out I knit socks for a baby or Big Foot as much as either might appreciate them.
