Twist Technique

Do I knit into the BACK of the stitch to TWIST??
Pattern states the following:"…skip next st, K next st, K skipped st".
I find it difficult to knit into the front of the stitch. Is there only one technique for a Twist? Thank you for your help.

To twist a regular knit stitch, knit into the back, yes. To twist a combined knit stitch, knit into the front. What pattern is this?

I think you’re supposed to do a twist which is like a little cable.

For a right twist, where the stitch in front leans right, you knit into the front of the second stitch, as normal, then into the first stitch.

For a left twist, you knit into the back loop of the second stitch and then into the front of the first stitch.

Thank you Ingrid & Contiknitter.
To reply to Contiknitter’s inquiry, the pattern is from Bernat’s Book #231,
