Turning question

New to knitting here and don’t understand how to turn. Here is what the pattern reads (baby socks).

Row 18: Knit 19, K2tog, knit 5, sl1, knit 1, psso, sl1, yf, turn
Row 19: K2tog, knit 5, sl1, knit 1, psso, sl1P, yf, turn

I am a beginner and need lots of help with understanding how to turn at the end of the row.

Also, yf is the same as yo, correct?
Thanks!

Turn is what you do at the end of a row and isn’t in most patterns. When it’s an instruction then what you’re doing is short rows for shaping and you turn even if you haven’t got all the way to the end of a row. It’s done a lot for socks to shape the heel. Just leave the unknit sts on the needle and you’ll get to them later.

I’m pretty sure yf means move yarn to the front (your ball end) not yarn over.

Some terms have two meanings depending on how they’re used. So yf can mean a YO, but in this pattern it just means to move the yarn to the front.
