I am making baby booties and the pattern says K15, skp, turn. Does turn mean to turn the work around? but then there’s no instructions after the turn and there are all these stitches left. It just has instructions for the next row. Do I just knit them?
Can you post a link to the pattern?
Actually, what do the next row’s instructions tell you to do? Sounds to me like you are starting some short rows to turn the heel…
Hi Kelly!
So the next row’s instructions are:
Row 11: K4, k2tog, turn
Row 12: & 14 Sl1 pwise, p3, skp, turn
I think you’re right about turn for the heel, so this may sound like a dumb question… What happens to the leftover stitches?
With each row, you’ll knit more and more stitches until they’re all knit. It creates the shaping for the heel.
I know this is an old post that I am replying to, but I just had to post this anyway. Last night I was attempting to make these same booties and I got stuck at the same part mentioned by the original poster here.
This morning, I did a search on this website, and I found my exact question, both asked and answered.
I have been knitting for a month, and I can not tell you what a help this board has been. My local knitting store is way too intimidating for me, so really this is my only place to go for help.
What a great kniitting resource.
