Tubular bind off still too tight..

I am knitting cardigan no.1 from Myfavouritethingsknitwear.

I realise that not only this pattern, but whenever I knit only mohair stuff, tubular binding off is still done too tight. I don’t pull the yarns tight and it usually looks okay when I am binding off the other type of yarns.

Any tips for loose binding off for mohair knitting?

I do fully understand that you might accidentally get too tight tubular cast off when looking at this cardigan:

It got huge stitches and it might be difficult to do the Kitchener’s stitch as loose as it is required for this one. Maybe it would work better if you put each stitch you sew on a knitting needle to keep it loose enough? I mean as soon as you have formed the V, put it up on a needle and adjust the tension before proceeding to the next one.

I tend to pull this bind off a little more tightly than other bind offs. It’s lovely but so stretchy that it’s
sometimes loosens up. That said, for mohair which is sticky as all get out I’d need to deliberately loosen up each stitch and not snug up the stitch after the yarn goes through.

One more thing you might try is using a larger needle. You may have to introduce it/them on the penultimate row and then bind off with larger needles.
