Truly newbie question - sides of scarf rolling

I’m making my first project ever - taught myself how to cast on, knit and purl last few days and now am making a simple scarf for my son. No pattern - just one row knit, one row purl. So far it’s going okay - the edges are a bit loose but my biggest concern is that it’s rolling in on itself. It’s about 5 inches long right now that’s it - will it keep doing it?

Any help, advice or tips for a newbie would be great!

Yep, it’ll keep on doing that and probably get worse. Stockinette does that, you need to knit a border to start and edge sts that prevent it. Read the sticky at the top of this form about Stockinette curling - http://www.knittinghelp.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32810
