Hello,
I am knitting a lacey blanket for the first time and on row 11 it says to "K1. K2tog *yo.K3.yo.Sl1.K2tog.psso. Rep from * to last 6 sts yo.k3.yo.ssk.k1
What I don’t understand is when I do the repeat it goes until there is 8 sts left instead of 6 sts left so I don’t know what to do. If I continue with the * until there is 6sts., there will be an extra yo and then the row will keep on getting bigger. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.
Welcome to KnittingHelp!
One thing to check is the yo. It should occur between sts and not use a stitch.
The row shouldn’t gain or lose any sts.
How many sts are there on the needle before you start the row? Can you give us a link to the pattern or a pattern name?
I start with 99. I don’t have the website but here is the pattern.
1st row: (RS). K2. *yo. ssk. K1. K2tog. yo. K1. Rep from * to last st. K1.
2nd row: K1. Purl to last st. K1.
3rd-6th row: Rep 1st and 2nd row twice more.
7th row: K3. *yo. Sl1. K2tog. psso. yo. K3. Rep from * to end of row.
8th: As 2nd row
9th: K2. *K2tog. yo. K1. yo. ssk. K1. Rep from * to last st. K1.
10th: as 2nd row.
11th: K1. K2tog. *yo. K3. yo. Sl1. K2tog. psso. Rep from * to last 6 sts. yo. K3. yo. ssk. K1
12th: As 2nd row.
Rep last 12 rows for pat until work from beg measures approx 59.5 inches.
Knit 2 rows. Cast off knitwise (WS)
Row 11 adds up to 99sts. The k1, k2tog uses 3sts, the repeat takes 6sts and you repeat 15 times. The final sts after the repeat require 6sts. That adds up to 99sts.
Did you start the row with 99? It looks like row 9 should end with that number of sts too.
Count the number of sts on the needle before you start row 11 to make sure you’re have the correct number. Then it may help to mark off the first 3sts, each of the 6stitch repeats and then the final 6sts just to make sure you stay on track to complete the row with no extra sts.
Does the repeat not take up 8 sts? I thought psso took up 2. Oh dear. I think I saw where my mistake was. Does Sl1 get involved in the psso?
Yes, the slip 1 is the stitch that is passed over. GG’s video link shows the procedure. (Thanks, GG!) Then the repeat will work out to 6sts each.
Thank you so much. It is looking great now!
