Trouble with Ribbing!

I am working on a beautiful pattern http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/jacques-cousteau-hat

The thing is, Im having trouble with ribbing. Im noticing that I am gathering extra yarn between the the knit and pearl stitches. Im not sure what I am doing wrong.

I am switching the yarn from front to back, but I cant figure out why there is so much extra space between the stitches.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Make sure that you switch the yarn back and forth between the needles, and every time you switch from knit the purl or back again.
Extra yarn between the stitches is called a YO, done on purpose in some cases, but an easy error to make in ribbing.

Ooooo… Thats my problem there.

Thanks for the help!
