Trouble with knitting increases

Hi,

I’m knitting the Rowan mystery afghan, and I’m having trouble with Week 4. The link is http://www.knitrowan.com/designs-and-patterns/patterns/pure-wool-worsted-mystery-afghan-knit-long-week-4-lace-kisses

The problem is with row 9, a RS row. The instruction is K8, yfwd, SKP, yfwd, K2tog, K1, SKP, yfwd, K2tog, yfwd, K7, yfwd, SKP, yfwd, K2tog, K1, SKP, yfwd, K2tog, yfwd, K8.

When I try to do this, I end up with 21 stitches knitted when I finish the 4th yfwd, the last before the K7. I’m supposed to only have 17 stitches knitted. What on earth am I doing wrong?

Are you using a stitch when you make the yfwd (yarn over)? A yfwd doesn’t use a stitch. Bring the yarn to the front between the needles then back over the right needle. That’s it.

Thanks so much, that was exactly the problem. Shame it seems to be a very ugly pattern! :joy::joy:
