Trouble deciphering pattern instructions. (Miss Dashwood)

Ok, so I am making Knitty’s Miss Dashwoodand am stuck on a specific round. The instructions say to:

[COLOR=Blue][I]Round 3:[/I] [K2, (k1, p1, k1, p1) in next st] around. 138[162, 174, 186, 192] sts.[/COLOR]

I don’t get the (k1,p1,k1,p1) in next stitch. Is this like a crazy kfb but instead of knitting in the front and back I’m doing 4 stitches to the front in one stitch?

Yes, you’re making 4 stitches into one. The next row I see you’ll be P4 tog when you get to those 4 stitches.

On the row before, you have 69 stitches, then after the increase row, you have 138, then the next row you’re back to 69.
