Hello, I am new to this forum, and could use some help. I’m attempting to knit a toddler sweater using two circular needles. The main color is charcoal. The pattern is a white circle with a green tree inside, and is only on the front of the sweater. I am having trouble adding the colors. As I begin the pattern and get to the end of the row in the front, I continue the back in charcoal, but when I get to the front again, there is no white or green for me to pick up and continue the pattern. Do I have to add the colors using small lengths each row. Thank you.
You need to carry the colored yarn up each row but only if you’re going to be reusing within next 2 to 4 rows. Alternatively, you can reattach colored yarn but that makes for a lot of ends to weave in. If you check YouTube, there are lots of videos. Here’s one that that shows how do do intarsia in the round:
Sorry, just re-read your email. Carrying yarn wouldn’t work so look at the video I posted for intarsia in the round.
Yes, essentially you’ll be working flat but connecting the rows so that it looks like you’re knitting in the round. You need this trick to ensure that the yarn strand is where you want it as you knit.
Thank you, will watch it right now
Thank you, this was perfect
I’ve done this for a sweater and put the turn at one of the underarms.
Your video is easy to follow. I think I’ll start with a practice swatch first. Thank you.
