You want to stick the right needle straight into the stitch at the base of the stem and bring up a loop of the working yarn as if you were picking up a stitch. Don’t pull the yarn too tightly so that the knit fabric buckles or gathers.
Hello,
I was looking for help with this pattern and came across this old conversation and I am hoping you all can help me. I am doing the Lion Brand Tree of Life Throw (baby Tree of Life).
I completed the Tree of Life pattern and the dividing pattern, ending with pattern 40 stitches, the pattern repeats twice, so 80 pattern stitches. I have 4 additional stitches between the pattern repeat and 4 boarder stitches on each end. I need to start the Flower Garden pattern but the pattern directions don’t correspond with the number of stitches I have.
Row 1 (RS): Inc 1 in first st, p8, *k1b (twisted knit st), p11; rep from * to last 11 sts, k1b, p10.
Thanks
Welcome to the forum!
You have 92sts total after finishing the trees and dividing pattern. The first row of the flowers requires 92sts: 9sts + (12 x 6) + 11. When you finish the first row you’ll have 93sts. One of the first 9sts will have an increase in it (a knit front and back will work or any increase that uses a stitch).
How many sts do you have on the needles before you start Row 1 of the flowers?
I do have 92 sts on the needle! I was keeping the 4 border sts on each end separate. Looking at the pictures, I realize that what I thought were boarder stitches is part of the boarder that gets attached later. Thank you so much!
That’s it exactly. It’s very deceiving to look at the photo because of the border. Yes, the garter stitch section that you see is part of the tulip bud border. Enjoy working this pattern. It really is fun to knit.
