Traveling woman shawl question

This is my first lace project. Pattern says:
row 1 (RS) k1, (yo,k5,slk2p,k5,yo,k1) to end
row 2 (WS) and all WS rows: work sts as established (k the ks, p the ps)

What does it mean " as established" is that just like repeating row 1? I don’t get it.

Ginny

The back of a knit st is a purl, and the back of a purl is a knit. You ‘established’ the pattern in row 1 so when you get to the WS you will knit the sts that look like knits and purl the ones that look like purls on row 2. Don’t worry about how you did the st on row 1, but knit them as they appear on the next row.
