newbie knitter here trying my first adult sweater. :slight_smile: can someone please explaint this to me please?

“(joinning row) *knit next st tog with corresponding st picked up along cast on edge. Rep from * across 164 stitches.”

I don’t get the corresponding st picked up along cast edge?? where am i getting picked up stitches??

Pick up a stitch from the cast on edge and knit tog with the other st. You would pick it up as you get there.
