I gave up on my summer top since it’s still to wide…
Anyway, I got some new yarn. It’s called Palermo and is 100%mercerised cotton. Now I need a top pattern for it.
The problem is the gauge of this yarn. It knits up on 4mm needles and 25sts and 30 rows = 4’X4’.
I haven’t found any pattern that asks for this gauge! Maybe someone has seen one, even a similare gauge might work since than I could just knit it in a bigger size.
Thanks
EDIT: This is really strange :??
I just made a swatch and I end up with 19 sts = 4’…so I’m searching for a pattern with this gauge now.
Javede,
In general, your goal should be to find an approximate gauge match, not try to find a pattern that exactly matches your gauge.
Patterns are generally written for a type of yarn. Basically you want a pattern in a sport weight cotton.
Check out Elann.com’s pattern search http://secure.elann.com/patternsearch.asp
These are generally “for purchase” patterns, but it might get you going in the right direction.
Once you find a pattern appropriate for your yarn, you adjust the gauge by changing needle size.
Good luck
