Does any one know of a pattern (or link) for a kids hat, Knitting it “top down”? thanks
I was just about to search for top-down hats. Here’s my preliminary search for such hats at ravelry. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/search#photo=yes&craft=knitting&view=captioned_thumbs&availability=free&pa=top-down%2Bin-the-round&sort=popularity&pc=hat You can narrow it down more. I’m thinking of this one http://throughtheloops.typepad.com/through_the_loops/2008/01/beret-recipe.html but I don’t know how much experience you have with hats and it’s not recommended for a first hat knit.

You can specify top down in Construction under Attributes. It took me quite a while to figure that one out. LOL
If I’d noticed how many posts you have I’d have realized you’ve been knitting for a while. I’ll blame it on this cold that’s making my face hurt…yeah, that works. 
I filtered for top down on that link. There may be a few misfiled, but most should be top down I think.

This is a great example of “why” I haven’t been on this site…I asked for a pattern…I get sarcasim…so, sorry about your face, Happy Knitting
Oh… and just let me add something here, the reason for a “top down” knit is because I have been asked to knit a hat “quickly” ( I have no measurements to work with…) due to the fact that a 10 year old boy has had is leg amputated to cancer and is now under going chemotherapy.consequently losing his hair…
I’m sorry. I seriously did miss how many posts you have. I wasn’t meaning to be sarcastic at all, I did try to help find a pattern. Why you want to knit top down isn’t any of my business. I hope you can find a pattern to your liking. Please don’t let me cause you to avoid this site.

I’m sorry about the little boy. That makes sense why you’d want to do a top down hat. I suggested Ravelry because there are so many patterns. You didn’t mention that you’d already checked there so I had no idea.
