Too many questions?

If you can, please try and answer these questions for me.
I only started knitting the other day but at the moment i can only do scarves. How do you create a shape like making a mitten or glove. I only have straight needles
Is crotchet the same as knitting?
How do I decrease, increase and cast off?

Thanks in advance!!

These are all great questions. You can make mittens by knitting back and forth on your straight needles and then seaming up one side.
There are lots of good videos on the Free Videos tab at the top of the page for just the things you’re asking about, increase, decrease and cast off plus many more. Take look and see if they help.
Crochet uses a single hook while knitting uses two needles to form stitches. The look of the fabrisc are usually quite different. There are good videos for crochet online and there are posts here, too for questions about crochet.

Definitely check the videos. You can do many things with straight needles, but eventually you’ll probably want to invest in some circulars. When you’re ready click on “shop” at the top of the page and consider buying the Comby trial set.

Congratulations on learning a great new skill. You’ve gotten good responses already. I’ll just add that you should feel free to ask any questions you may have here. Lots of people are ready and willing to help.
