Toe up sock question

I have practing the many ways to cast on for toe up socks for the past 2 days. I am able to get the first 12 stitches cast’ed on just fine. I am confused how to “pick up the other 12 stitches”!

o Cast on 12 stitches
o Knit across
o Pick up 12 stitches on the other side

Please help before I pull any more hair out!

I use this cast on for toe up socks.

I’ve never heard it described that way. I think they just want you to knit.

I use this method.

Thank you both for the other suggestions - I will add them to my bag of tricks to try tonight while DH watches the NFL draft!
