Toe up sock question

Hi all!

I’m trying my hand at toe up socks for the very first time and I think I’m dumb.

I’m following Wendy’s tutorial with pics up at Knitty and ut says:

One side of it will be smooth and look like a row of little “vees.” The other side will have a bump in the center of each vee. Using your sock yarn and 2 dpns, knit 1 stitch into the bump in the center of each little vee on the back side of the chain until you have 24 stitches.

[/COLOR][/SIZE][/FONT][/I][FONT=Verdana, Trebuchet MS, Arial][SIZE=-1][COLOR=#333333]Why would I need 2 dpns if I’m picking up stitches from the crochet chain? That is what I’m doing right? Or am I doing something wrong?

Depends on how you do it - if your chain is loose enough, you can just pick up all the loops on one needle then knit off, or (using two needles) pick up the “bump” and immediately knit it onto the second needle.

Try it both ways and use the one you prefer.
