Today's "Today Show"

UHG!!! I HATE SEWING!!!:!!!: Not there’s anything wrong with sewing it’s just not my thing. I hate sewing so much that when I’m looking at a new pattern the 1st thing I look for is how much seaming has to be done and then I try to figure out a way around said seaming. I can’t stand these people who think they can decide what’s “in” and what’s not and everyone is just supposed to follow suit :!!!: :grrr: She can keep her sewing, I’m not throwing my knitting needles out, they’re far too expensive and besides most of them have UFOs on them :teehee:

:muah:

Did anyone watch The Today Show today?

Did you see the part about the bacterial infection (I can’t remember the name of it)? But it is spreading all over the place. That is scary.

I might be wrong… but I thought when she was on The View she was trying to learn to knit… cause Elizabeth knits and they made a few comments… she wasn’t really catching on… which knitting is easy to do so maybe thats why she made the comment… she was was mad cause she couldn’t be cool like us…

I think that’s a great idea. I’m sending my email right now. Hope as many of y’all as feel it appropriate wil do the same thing.

And actually, when they showed their Xmas gift exchange this year, Matt got her a HUGE Kate Spade tote bag filled with yarn, needles, and the KNitting for Dummies book.
Thats very funny t o me

And after what she said yesterday?? He must have been thinking, “Uh, I guess you didn’t like what I got you???”

:roflhard:

:!!!: :!!!: :!!!:

I sew and Knit, but I much prefer Knitting. And anyone who uses a phrase out of Buffy the Vampire slayer “Ugg, that jacket is sooooo five minutes ago” is not the bastion of what is “hip and in”.

:hair:

I used to sew clothing and will never make another garment again. But I did just take up quilting which is pretty cool. I knit and crochet and barring some sort of disaster like no more yarn (but I have a stash to last a lifetime so I don’t think I would ever have that problem) I will never put down my needles and hooks.

That’s fine if she doesn’t want to knit and if she wants to feel better about it by declaring it “out”. That just leaves more yarn for me!

Well I have been sewing for 30+ years and knitting took up knitting only 3 years ago. I enjoy both but knitting is much more portable and relaxing. Isn’t there some kind of saying that says fads come around ever 20 years or so! I will keep doing both no matter what Meredith says!! xxx

People that are in the media–whether it’s anchorpeople, journalists, or celebrities–why do they think people need to know their opinion on every single topic? Why is it that their opinion is somehow considered “gospel”, that just because they’re famous, they’re some kind of experts? No offense, but I could care less what most celebs or media people’s opinion are in politics, religion, or what they deem as “popular”. They’re regular people–just like us, putting their pants on in the morning one leg at a time. :grrr: :!!!:

Yes, they’re entitled to have their own opinions for sure (because we all are entitled to have them), but do I really need to hear what Meredith and any other celebrity thinks about knitting? Really–who cares!!!

Okay, I’ll get off my soapbox now.

I’ve been sewing off and on for 15 years and I’ve only been knitting for about a month. I love both of them equally. I love the quick creations I can make with my sewing machine, but I also love the portability & calmness that comes with knitting. (My sewing machine has almost flown off of my deck a few times! :grrr: )

I, too, wish that tv personalities would keep their opinion to themselves. I get tired of them deciding what’s “in” or “out”.

do I really need to hear what Meredith and any other celebrity thinks about knitting?

She’ll change her tune when they catch Paris Hilton knitting something for her little dog. Then it will be back in vogue. :teehee:

A lot of those morning talk show people are probably just spouting off what they’re told to say. I hate those shows. They spend more time telling you what they’re going to be talking about then talking about anything. And I’m not interested in 99.99999% of what they do have to say. Lucky for me I’m at work when they’re on. :teehee:

okay I think we may be getting a little over the top here. I don’t think she was reeeeeeeeeally suggesting anything bad about knitting or that people shouldn’t be caught knitting. I would guess it was just the copy that was written for her and even if it wasn’t, I would also guess that she doesn’t care any more for knitting than she does for sewing. She was just introducing the story. Either way it doesn’t matter and I didn’t really find myself being put down by what she said. I know I joked about being angry but really, I just don’t think that this really matters. It’s the Today show… while there are serious news stories on there, they are basically entertainers and are rarely informed enough on ACTUAL issues. Why fret about cwap they say about things that aren’t an issue.

(yeah I still have Today show issues since Katie ticked me off!)

:roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard:
SO TRUE!!! Pathetic and sidesplittingly funny, but true!!!

ahem I completely agree with cawthraven on this subject, Talk Show Anchors only show’s what the viewers would think it is cool, and shun everything else, because they can’t think on their own :roflhard: and have others like cough meridith tell them what is good/bad. It’s sad how they influcence everyone from younge & old on how things should be depicted. What ever happened to being unique, having a mind of your own, your own interest, your own opnions your own character.

I on the other hand like to step out of the box and claim my individuality xxx Knit on guys and gals knit on… :woohoo:

Don’t get off the soapbox; just move over and make room for me to get on it with you!!!

Uh, I didn’t see what Matt gave her for Christmas but…

HEY MER, I’ll take whatever he gave you since it’s so five minutes ago.

…you know it had to be EXPENSIVE!!

No way! I love knitting WAY better then sewing.

Can’t exactly take a sewing machine with me to the doctors office or anyplace else I am waiting.
