Could someone kindly explain how I should work this pattern?
I got as far as knit 8 rows and then got confused.

Rep 4 rows for pattern

CO 165 sts
Knit 8 rows (This is as far as I got before the confusion started)
Next row (RS): K4, p1, work in Waffle Pattern to last 4sts, K4.
Next row(WS): K4, work in Waffle Pattern to last 5 sts, K5

Repeat last two rows until piece measures …
My confusion:
How do I work the last two rows (RS) and (WS) in blue, with the top four rows mentioned above, in green?
How does “repeat the last two rows” then help form the waffle pattern especially as repeating the last 4 rows forms the pattern?
You’ve got your 8 knit rows. Next row: K4, *K2, p1; rep from *, k4
What you are doing is knitting your first 4 sts to make a garter stitch border, then knitting the sts from the pattern rows, knit the last 4 sts to make a garter st border on that end. For the next rows, do the same (begin and end with 4 knit sts) except move on to row 2, then 3, then 4 of the waffle pattern. You’ll start back with row 1 of the waffle pattern after row 4. HTH
