Tis the Season of the Cowl

The pattern is Cable Cowl knitting with 2 strands throughout of Wisdom Yarns Ballad Merino Wool.

Someone had posted a question about knitting a cowl using 20 stitch cables and they did not reference a pattern. I started poking around ravelry.com and found this pattern and just had to make it. And those are 20 stitch cables, biggest cables I ever made.

I used a provisional cast on and finished with the Kitchener stitch, both new techniques for me. Initially I had a bit of trouble with the Kitchener stitch; the stitches were too slippery on a metal needle and I ended up placing the stitches on wood dpns using point protectors on one end to act as a stop (I didn’t have wood needles in the size I knitted with).

This is so warm and cozy I don’t want to take it off, it’s like a warm  for my neck. I will probably block it tomorrow and will post more pictures after.

   That is one stunning cowl in a beautiful color! You will get many compliments on it for sure! I like the way it stays close to the neck.

Well done and a lovely color!

That’s beautiful! Purple seems to be the “in” colour this season too.

Just beautiful! :inlove: Love the periwinkle color too!

Lovely and warm. Beautiful.

That is just gorgeous! I love cowls; so much quicker to knit and easier to wear than scarves!

It looks great! You did a great job and I always love purple.

Oh yummy! This is such a nice cowl! Great work!
