Tight Stitches

Hi again! I’m still practicing stitches and doing alright with it. My knit stitches look great! But I’m having some trouble with my purling stitches. They are -incredibly- tight sometimes, almost unworkable, and it’s making my piece too taut. Is there something I could do with this?

As a note, I’m using size 8 circular needles with a 12" wire.

Are you wrapping the yarn the correct direction? If not you may be causing a twist (which will tighten the st).

Ohh… that’s probably it, right there. I know I was switching the direction when I added the yarn. Thanks!
