Thumb Cast On Method

What is the thumb cast-on method?
I have a book on decorative knitting that is absolutely the worst for an inexperienced knitter. The instructions are for "casting on with beads, using the Thumb Method."
Is this the same as the long tail cast? I don’t have a clue.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

It may mean the backward loop cast on, but probably the thumb version of the long tail cast on where you use both hands.

the ‘thumb method’ might be an English term? You use your left thumb to make a loop, which you then knit into like a normal knit stitch.
The video is called ‘alternative method’ of long tail cast on
