This is why it is important to do a Gauge

My very first sweater. I ahve been knitting for almost 3 years now. I have made purses, and a top. I have never done a gauge, I know how important it is but just don 't understand what to look for to count.

Now I am going to learn.

Oh no! I’m so sorry!

The sweater looks very nice though! Sorry it’s too big!

:pout: Live and learn I guess.

I guess I thought I was going to be the one lucky person who could knit it to size.

IS IT WOOL OR something that could possibly felt in the washer ( or possibly shrink) if you put it in with hot water and agitate??
 Just a thought~! :??

Well, at least you’ll know next time.

oh no!!! :pout:

What was it supposed to be?? I like the colors …

ooooh nooooo :pout:

I too, used to be a gaugeless knitter, but I have learned my lesson after my cropped cardi coming out more like a short shrug (though I’m still hoping it fits). I’m sorry yours didn’t work out though. Maybe you could felt it though, like aineepooh1 said, if it’s 100% wool. :verysad:

Do you have any large, chilly friends?

Me! Me! Me! Me! Me! Me! Me! Me! Me! Me! Me! Me! :roflhard:

It has been washed twice… It is not Wool

And I am the Large Chilly friend… :happydance: :eyebrow:

:pout: :pout: RATS~!!

Can always give to charity~ :happydance: :cheering: :happydance: :cheering:

I DO knit to guage…and when said person, grabs the needles, and starts knitting, and and and…when goes to the size for the cuffs…finds out that the needles that were picked out were in METRIC …NOT…“American”…sigh…

so…my sweater is huge…had I knit a swatch…no problems.

That’s too bad! The sweater is really pretty though anyway.
