When I finish my Christmas presents, I want to get back to the afghan I’m making for my husband. It is supposed to be 56 (!) 8x8 inch squares. I did sixteen in the spring and early summer, then got burned out and worked on some other things a little during the hot summer. Now I have Christmas presents to finish.
I am just worrying about it a little. Some of the squares are not exactly perfectly the same size. The only similar thing I’ve ever done was a 4-square blanket for my cat. It had some problems, but my cat didn’t seem to mind and I forgave myself because it was the first thing I ever did involving seaming and picking up stitches for a border. But I want my husband’s blanket to be pretty much problem-free.
Ultimately, do I need to abandon the not-quite right squares? Is seaming going to be a huge problem? I didn’t want to seam as I go, because I don’t know how I want the colors laid out in the end. I have blocked all the squares so far to approximately the same size. My husband’s aunt offered to help with the seaming, but I kind of wanted to do it all myself.
These are just random thoughts, but any suggestions/advice/insight would be appreciated.
