Sadly, I do not yet have a stash. But I do look forward to seeing what others will do with theirs!
Iām in too!!! I have sooooooooooooooooo much yarn. almost as much as Ingy :teehee: Iām going to try to incorporate stash-busting into more KALs this year, too.
I was wondering, are we going to create a little icon/avatar for the stashies?
I would but unfortunatly Iam not very good at it
i am so in, my dh says i buy too much yarn, and we have no money, so this will be a good idea for me. i have a small stash, but i am a slow knitter, so it will probably take all year to use it. :teehee:
edited because i read the first post again which answered the stupid question previously posted here.
Yesterday I finally made myself sit down and really start to work on my dhās socks⦠I had CO before but that was allā¦:teehee: ⦠they were suppose to be done for Christmasā¦
Iāve been kinda making a list of the projects I can do with my stash⦠are we going to keep track of this like in the KAL section with how everyone is doing⦠or just keeping adding here? Wasnāt sure what the game plan wasā¦
you should start a stash busting Knit Along thread!!!
I am totally in. The only project I have to buy yarn for is an auction piece I am knitting for school. They requested a certain type of yarn that I do not own. Other than that, it is ALL stash busting, all the time!
By āevery OTHER projectā you mean projects other than those I am knitting, right?
My stash is totally out of control. I end up with at least 2 skeins of yarn after finishing every single project, and sometimes the yarn is too old to take back at that point (Iām not going to try to take back 6+ month old yarn!)
One step in the right direction is that I am wrapping up a baby blanket using some yarn my mom gave me (oh sure, foist your stash off onto me!) I have also gone through and picked out projects for much of the yarn in my stash, and the pattern is sitting in individual bags with the respective yarn. Unfortunately, for every project I start and finish, I dream up three more. I donāt have many UFOs, just one at the moment, but I have a serious backlog in my queue!
Count me in. I took a bunch of my yarn to yarn group last week - for their swap - I was so thrilled to see some of my pretties go home with people who might actually use them in this lifetime. I did not come home empty handed - I was very pleased with my finds. (some sock yarn, enough lovely navy wool for a sweater!, some green wool for felting and a few funky needles!).
One question. Does sock yarn count?
[b]I think sock yarn should count ⦠I am still trying to understand that mystery of life known as āthat-multicolored-sock yarn-that-knits-up-with-stripes-or-pattern-no-matter-what-you-knitā.

Iāll join in! I have a huge amount of yarn. Like six or seven of those big plastic bins with lids! In fact if I buy some more, I feel so bad I donāt let my husband see me bringing it in!
Do we get some points if we give some of the stash to charity?
Iām going to use my stash up makeing preemie and chemo hats for charity. The little hats are great, you can use any kind of yarn, and they knit up so fast I make one or two as a rest in between my bigger projects so I feel like I accomplished something!
Lord I could warm a lot of heads this way! I also just volunteered at a local middle school to help the teacher teach tweens how to crochet, I believe they want me to start in February. They need practice yarn so I will probably give them some too!
[b]My Bullmastiff wants to join ⦠says he has his own stash ⦠a bit mangled and saturated, but noneless a stash.

I was thinking the same thing.
Love your new avatar, Hildie.

Yes, gifting some of your Stash Yarn to charity (or your local knitting club, etc.) counts! Why so? Because it diminshes the size of YOUR STASH!
I donāt know how to create an icon or avatar for us Stashies. Does anyone else?
Well, I earned my first Stash Credits this weekend! Finished that basketweave, buttercup yellow MicroSpun baby blanket! And, whilst I was on my MicroSpun rollā¦I knit 4 MicroSpun dishcloths too! Three in buttercup, 1 in redā¦and will continue with the dishcloths til my MicroSpun is El-Gonno!
I took digital photos of the baby blankets and dishclothsā¦but unfortunately, I donāt know how to place photographs into this forumā¦but, somebody must know. There are photos inserted into certain threads on this website.
If anyone wants my simple directions for the basketweave dishclothā¦please email me, and I will send the directions asap! It is 25 stitches wide, 38 rows tall, with size 10.5 needle using double strand MicroSpun. The needle size can be adjusted depending on the Stash Yarn used, of course. My dishcloths turned out perfectā¦nice squares, not too big, not too small!
I figured out how to insert my photo.
[b]Hi ArtLady,
Just go to your profile and upload your photo ⦠thing is you have to resize it so its no more than 100 x 100 and a small number of megapixels ⦠if you have a program that resizes you are all set ⦠it will then just appear every time you post ⦠you can change it as you want to ⦠I wanted to resize one of my pics to put in but its higher than it is wide so it wonāt size to what I need without making my head look two feet wide. :teehee:

To CarmenlBanez: Yes, it is quite A-OK for you to keep a prior commitment!
Someone asked: what is Stash Yarn? Letās loosley say: It is any and all yarn that you have in your possession upon joining the Stashies!
Reward Projects are knit with new yarn purchased after joining Stashies! One rule: the New Yarn cannot join ranks with the Stash Yarn. The New Yarn must be knit immediately. Otherwise, you are not diminishing your Stash, are you?
Clearly, some of us serious Stashies may knit many, many more Stash Projects than Reward Projects. Hopefully. :teehee:
The point is: We want to motivate ourselves to USE all that previously purchased yarn! It is just so pointless to keep buying and buying at a greater rate than we could EVER knit! Some of us āSerial StashieSā have even forgotten what we have in our Stash! :pout: Except to say, hundreds of dollars in yarn, no doubt! Sigh. Things are gonna change around here! Stay tuned!
This is THE YEAR OF THE STASH!
Ok, figured it out! Here is the MicroSpun dishcloth! It takes an hour, if that.
Cast on 25 stitches, 38 rows tallā¦double-strand MicroSpun, size 10.5 needles. Email me for the directions.
The RS is always Knit across. The patterning row is done from the WS.
Iām in. I started with a couple of weeks ago with the Knit From Your Stash 2007 on my blog.
I need to update it but so far I have finished 2 1/2 pairs of clogs and sold a ton of yarn. To celebrate I bought sock yarn from A Swell Yarn Shop. :teehee:
Here is the Stash baby blanket! :cheering: Used up 16 skeins! :notworthy:
Cast on 150 stitches x 240 rows tall (46"x46")ā¦36,000 loving stitches!
