The way I knit

I watched a few videos on the site but the way I knit is different from the videos. I was taught by a woman from israel,

When I make a knit stitch, (i’m right handed) I hold the needle with the stitches on it in my left hand, in my right hand i’m knitting. When I make a knit stitch I bring the needle in front of the needle in my left hand and insert it at the top, and bring the yarn under the needle and pull up. When i make a purl stitch I do the same accept i bring the yarn behind the neelde, insert the neelde in to the stitch behind the needle and bring the yarn under the needle and pull up. I’m not sure if i’m explaining this where it is being understood. If so, does anyone know the name of my style of knitting?

I have a Left handed Daughter that started knitting in the backs of her stitches like I did (I taught her the same way I learned at first)
then somehow she taught herself how to knit backwards/left handed
:shock:
FORGET her following ANY pattern that is out there
she has to reinvent every stitch combination before she stops complaining

but she thinks things through like I do
and she is Knitting
that is the important thing

I am a righty but I knit with my left hand. It just felt more natural for me to do it this way. Now I am learning to knit with my right (well - I can knit, but I cant get the purl down)
In any case it seems as if there are as many styles of knitting as starbucks shops.

:waving: hi! I grew up in Baltimore!!! :cheering: You’re the 2nd person today I’ve met!!! :slight_smile:

it sounds like you’re knitting through the back loop. Check out amy’s video one this page --the only one I could find shows her knitting TWO through the back loop, but it should look the same-- and see if that looks liek what you do.
