My daughter’s Sparkly Pink Sox were too snug around her ankles so I reworked them. On FB she wrote:
Loving my sparkly pink Mommy Sox. — feeling loved
Insomnia plus cold feet last night stunk. Sparkly pink sox were comfy and cuddly.
I didn’t like the way they look. The yarn with a metallic strand didn’t frog well. Guess what? I no longer care if they’re beautiful because my daughter loves them. That makes me feel loved.
congrats on the warm reception of your reFO, GG… and she didn’t just love them, she FELT loved… that’s the mom holy grail, right?

PS - shared this one with my mom (in the middle of her own crafting, mostly sewing) who said “how nice! speaking of, when do i get MY pair of socks, mr. knitter?” labor day, lady. labor day. she can have my first finished pair.
Yup, X, it is. You see she has RA and a few other health problems and has teenage kids; anything that can help her through a tough time is worth whatever it takes. One reason I posted that is to let people who want to make something for someone they love know that perfection isn’t necessary. We do our best and usually it will be way better than good enough. Every stitch is made with love; I’m convinced they feel that love. I’m fortunate enough to have people who actually say how much they appreciate their gift knits. I’ve trained them too: if it doesn’t fit or you don’t want it, return it to me to fix to your liking or to reuse the yarn.
How are the socks coming along? Have you cast on? Don’t get so caught up in making them perfect that she’s left waiting and waiting. She’ll love them.
Pink sparkley socks sound like a great success and they look grand. Pink and sparkley? Who wouldn’t love a pair?
Glad that your daughter loves them.
That’s gotta make you feel great, GG. Miss you!!
