The cord on circulars

I tried to knit around the whole circular, but everything keeps twisting and getting tangled. Is there any way to straighten the cord??

TIA

I’ve read that if you put the cord in very hot water, it helps to straighten it out. If you’ve already got stitches on it, the weight of the knitting will keep it in check after a while.

If you’re knitting in the round and your yarn is wrapping around the knitting, then you’ve joined your knitting while it was twisted. You know how a pattern says, join, being careful not to twist? They mean it. There’s no fixing it, so check on that, too.

I take it you got the mail? :roflhard: Which length are you working with?

What Ingrid said is correct. You have to be careful when you first join that the stitches aren’t twisted. Before you start if you can visualize and hold the needles like you might be if working flat (as best you can) you can see how the join should go.

The smaller cord shouldn’t be a problem curling, but any of them get better with a few inches of knitting on them.

I didn’t get your mail yet jan!! :frowning:

Thanks for the advice!! I think a nice dip in hot water will help.

Well… phooey! Should be any day now! So what size are you using and what are you making?

I have both sizes 8 and 13. the 8’s I’m using for another srunchable scarf, and the 13’s I plan on making a chunky sweater.

I’m really hoping that I get those needles monday. I really hope my post office didn’t send them back too

How long are the cords? When you are knitting flat you will have more of a problem with the cord getting twisty. Sometimes twisting the needle so the cord “untwists” works a bit, too.

I know the circulars are 29’s, and the needles are 5 in long. so, around 19 in?

You measure from needle tip to needle tip to get the measurement. If the package said 29 in, then that’s what they are.
