The best way to pick up this dropped stitch in my sock?

Last night, I was knitting along quite happily on this sock until… just until. :sad:

I tried to tink the first repeat because I started a pattern row(wrong) instead of the purl row(correct). When I did a stitch dropped, which one I’m not sure because of the yo.:verysad: The pattern repeat is k1, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k1. I did manage to catch the dropped stitch with a split ring holder so that I would merely fume a bit instead of cry. :hair:

Do you think there’s a way to work a vertical fix here, or would running a lifeline and frogging back be the best bet?

I think you should be able to pick up the ladder of sts. See if you can tell which st is dropped by the sts on either side (I can’t quite see it in the picture). If it’s the yo you should be missing the holes in the pattern. Then you can just repeat the pattern as you go up the ladder. It’s a least worth a try. If it doesn’t work, you can always frog or tink to the last good row. (Yes, a lifeline is always worthwhile.)

I use a very small crochet hook to pick up dropped stitches on socks. Since every row is knit they are really pretty easy to do. And washing should make them all blend in again pretty well.

I reacquired a size 0 hook for just this purpose. But I’ve since repurposed the itty bitty latch hook tool that came with my standard gauge knitting machine and on the stockinette portion of any sock, this little critter can’t be beat for speed or uniformity of stitches.

Now I’m trying to figure out if I can use it to recreate the k2togs vertically on the right side of the super simple lace repeat of Wendy Johnson’s Basic Lace sock. What I’m thinking that technique would be is something like crocheting backwards with a latch hook.

Back to the creation of my holiday culinary masterpiece, eggnog cheesecake topped with New Orleans whisky sauce. Cooking gives me time to think my way through this conundrum.:slight_smile:

I can only hope. I haven’t made this one before or tasted the cheesecake itself yet, but the whisky sauce turned out amazing, made with butter, sugar, heavy cream, and of course whisky. It is definitely the spoonful of sugar to make the medicine, er, cheesecake, go down…<hiccup>:clink: :passedout:
