Terrible ending!

ok… so ive just finished my first ever knitting project! :woohoo:

However, I should be ashamed of the ending!!!

It’s a headband, so nice and simple to start with CO 20 sts knit to desired length then stitch up. EASY PEASY. Well, i started doing a mattress seam and that was goin well until i got the long tail cast on and the end wool caught in (what would you normally do with these little bits???) and then it got abit messy, ubt its fastened together and it works as a headband.

Feeling quite chuffed with ma wee self! :stuck_out_tongue:

But seriously what do u do with your start and ending co thread?

You weave in all of the loose ends with either a crochet hook or a large needle. Usually weave in my ends before I seam because I cann’t take all the bits.:teehee:

Congratulations on knitting your very first project. I hope it’s the first of many. Well done x

Congratulations on finishing your first project!

If I’m doing something that is going to have a short seam to sew up, like a headband, I just leave an extra long tail when I cast on and use that to seam up the side. Two birds with one stone

OOoh I like that idea. I will have to try it soon.

You will never forget your first project !!! Mine was a scarf that ended up 10 feet long !!! hehe !!!

Keep knitting !!!

not really sure what my next project shuld be? Seen the free square slipper pattern but not sure how many stitches each square is meant to be. only got odd bits of wool here so not sure what to make. any ideas?

If they are 100% wool you can make fulled coasters. That is just cast on about 11-13 stitches and knit for about twenty rows and then full them. Or how about and odd bit scarf. Kind of like a coat of many colors sort of thing…
