Hi everyone, hope you’ve all had a lovely Bank Holiday.
I am knitting a jumper, but I would just like to check my tension is correct first. But I don’t understand how to measure tension. The pattern states “5.5 sts and 7.5 rows to 10cm of stocking stitch using 15mm knitting needles”. I don’t understand what 5.5 sts or 7.5 rows means. How can I do a half stitch and/or half row? Thanks

You knit a swatch that measures at least 10cm square, then mark a 10cm square using pins or a knitting gauge with a square aperture (you can find them easily online, if your knitting shop doesn’t have any). Count how many stitches and rows in that square - the half stitches (or rows) will actually be full stitches, but one half should fall outside the boundary of the square you measured out.

That now makes sense. Thank you
