Hi I am making a stuffed toy. I have done a practice swatch to see what size needles I need. Could you check the swatch and give your opinion on weather stuffing can poke through in the swatch? Has the swatch got small enough stitches so stuffing does not poke through. 3.0mm were used Please check thanks
It’s really difficult for us to tell from a photo. Why not put a ball of stuffing on the WS and wrap the swatch tightly around it to see if the stuffing shows through. You can hold the knitting rather tightly around the stuffing just to test it out.

I think you’d get a better idea by doing a test, however I do think it looks a little loose as is.
I think it looks a little loose also based on my experience. What weight is your yarn? For fingering I would use 2 mm/US0 needles; for worsted I would use nothing larger than 3.5/US4. For sport or dk I’d use somewhere in between. I usually am pretty close with the suggested needle size for gauge on ball bands.
