Techniques I cannot Figure Out!

HELP!

Can anyone point me to a resource where I can learn how to:

Right Diagonals
Left Diagonals
Picking Up a Running Knit and Purl Stitch
Knitting with 3 Needles
One Handed Stranding
Two Handed Stranding
Internal Increases
External Increases
Internal Decreases
The Dot Knot Stitch
Wrapping Knit Side Stitches - (is this like for short rows?)
Invisible Verticals on the Stockinette Stitch
Invisibal Horizontals

I think that some of these are not called by the right name…but I don’t know for sure.

HELP! :aww:

Right and left diagonals - do you mean decreases?

The others, I’ve not even seen anything close to something I might maybe recognize!!

I don’t know what you mean by diagonals and verticals, internal external etc, but check the videos here in KH first and see if they can answer some of your questions. Here’s a few more places to look as well.

Two Handed Fair Isle video(you’ll need IE)

Right Diagonals

Left Diagonals
do you mean decrease( that lean or slant to right or left?)
Or do you mean cables.

Picking Up a Running Knit and Purl Stitch
No idea!
Knitting with 3 Needles
three is a 3 needle bind off, and
knitting in the round (with work on 3 needles, and a 4th used to work stitches…

One Handed Stranding
Two Handed Stranding

this is in reference to FAIR ISLE (and fair isle) type work
the term fair isle (lower case) is used to define any sort of small repeated design knit into a sweater. (see sample here --hearts)
Fair Isle (caps) is a specific kind of designs, that originated on Fair Isle (a small island in Norht UK(scotland) Fair Isle (lower and upper case!) is knitting in colors, but ONLY 2 colors are used per row)

there are different ways to do the work…2 yarns in 1 hand, or 1 color in each hand. each type is some ones favorite/best way… Both are correct!

Internal Increases
External Increases
Internal Decreases
Not sure what you mean bby internal/external!

The Dot Knot Stitch
a stitch (a fancy stitch)
Knit (work stitches in row till you are ready to make a dot knot stitch)
K1- *return this stitch to left needle–knit it again.
(*optional, do it again!)
then continue working stitches in row till you want another dot.
also known as “pepper corn” or just pepper stitch

Wrapping Knit Side Stitches - (is this like for short rows?)

Invisible Verticals on the Stockinette Stitch
Invisibal Horizontals

don’t know (but i am guessing these refer to increase (some increase are MORE noticiable/MORE prominent and ‘create’ design elements… some increase are less noticable, and less prominent… (and by being subtle, created subtle design elements!)

When you say running stitch, do you mean like a run in a stocking? If you have this, you have dropped a stitch and you want to pick it up yeah? Google ‘picking up dropped stitch’ or something similar if so.
There are a lot of good tutorials out there just Google for them, and lots are here on KH.
I think that you know what you mean, but you don’t know the words we use to describe most of them, and for those you may have some trouble Googling for tutorials. I suggest you go to a knitting shop or a Stitch ‘n’ Bitch to ask about what you mean - first, what they are usually called, and second, how to fix them. If that is not possible, check out some of the great books on fixing knitting mistakes. Also, once you know what things are called, you can search for tutes successfully!

Picking Up a Running Knit and Purl Stitch - if by this you mean a dropped stitch, I recommend using a crochet hook to hook the stitches back through each other. As has been mentioned, google it for a tutorial.
Knitting with 3 Needles - check the videos on this site
One Handed Stranding - check the resources already mentioned for Fair Isle
Two Handed Stranding - same as one handed
Internal Increases - If I used this term I would be referring to an increase such as knitting into the front and back of a stitch. Check out the videos on this site. My favorite is to simply pick up the yarn between the needles, wrap it around the left needle, and knit into it as usual. You can also do a knit in front (stick your needle into the stitch from below, wrap the yarn, and complete the stitch, but don’t lift the old stitch off the left needle) and in back (stick your needle down into the back of the stitch from above, then wrap the yarn and complete the stitch as usual). There are other increases but these are the two I use most often.
External Increases - by this I’m guessing you mean a cast on once you have already been knitting for a while? I use the backwards loop cast on for this.
Internal Decreases - stick your needle into two stitches instead of one.
The Dot Knot Stitch - what they said.
Wrapping Knit Side Stitches - (is this like for short rows?) - yeah, like for short rows. As far as I know, its just a yarn over.
Invisible Verticals on the Stockinette Stitch - not sure what you mean by this
Invisibal Horizontals - not sure what you mean by this either.

I second what redwitch said about talking to some local knitters at your lys or s’n’b… they will be an excellent resource if you have them available.
