This is the pattern.
This is the first part of the pattern:
Set up round: K16, P2, K4, P2, K16, P2, K4, P2, K16.
Cable pattern:
Round 1: K16, P2, C4B, P2, K16, P2, C4B, P2, K16.
Rounds 2-8: K16, P2, K4, P2, K16, P2, K4, P2, K16.
Repeat rounds 1-8 of cable pattern until leg measures 8" or desired length.
Question:
I did the set up round, and round 1 and 2. It says to repeat rounds 1-8. So that means every 9th round I do a cable round, aka as round 1? Wouldn’t that make the cables too far apart?
Wouldn’t you want to alternate rounds 1 and 2?
I never trust myself with new patterns. I sure wish I could just read them. I get sooo frustrated with myself.:??
No, you only need to cross the cable every 8 rounds to get the look they show there. Cables aren’t crossed as often as you’d think and with fingering weight yarn 8 rows don’t go very far. Look at the close up of the cable and you can count the rows, or just about… Every 8 is right.
Thank you!! This is my first time doing cables so I’m clueless. Now I can back to working on my sock.:cheering:
You’re welcome! That is one of the neat things about cables. They look so complicated and it seems like you would be doing tricky things all the time, but you only do the twists every __ (they vary) rows and the rest is straight knit and purl. Pretty cool.
Well, I went back and restarted my sock, but it looks wonky. I will have to frog back to the cuff, I think. So frustrating. Good thing I’m only a few rows out.
