Hi~ So I’m thinking of knitting the 2nd big project of my life (the 1st one was a cardigan that was too long my cousin decided she wore it better than me and took it even before i could try it on :cheering: )
And I want to make something similar to this (this form of sweater is on trend here now):

I dont care about the pattern or the patch (and the one in the picture wasnt even a knitted piece, was it?), but what i mean is i cant make out how to knit the front shorter than the back like this. My mom told me just to knit the front piece shorter and the front hem tighter so when i sew them together, the front piece will be pulled up this way. I kinda understand what she said but i’m not sure about it. Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks in advance
I’m not sure I understand either.
Another way would be to start knitting flat for however much longer you want the back to be then cast on for the front and join to knit in the round. There may be actual patterns for a sweater like this. You might check ravelry and see what you come up with.
If you want it longer you’d use short rows across the back. Knitting the front piece shorter would make the sides a different length when seaming. What you want is a nicely rounded back with the sides the same length. A sweater knit in the round from the armholes down would work best I’d think.
Thank you all people
After a morning looking around, I’ve found a similar pattern in Rowan magazine #52. And they instructed to make the front hem into 3 separate sections. The 2 side sections would be knitted first and the middle section later, then join together so the middle one would be shorter than the others. I think i get it now. Gonna start knitting immediately :knitting:
