I recently finished a Reynolds raglan sweater which called for 660 yds of Lopi bulky. I am a tight knitter and in order to get the correct gauge and have the garment wearable I used a much more bulky yarn, Rowan “Big Wool”, for which I ended up using 825 yds.
It’s hard to say. It depends on the yarn and needles as well as the size you knit. If it came with different sizes then I’m sure the 660 yards varies, too. If you changed anything about the pattern like length or shaping that can affect the yardage as well.
Tight knitters generally do use more yarn, the yardage suggestions are usually for an average knitter. You can use a larger needle, and make a smaller size next time, that would use about the same amount of yarn as suggested.
