Sweater sleeves: My kryptonite

Sweater sleeves seem to be my downfall. I can never get them right. I am making a cardigan for my dad and the sleeves look funny. I think the problem is in the way I increased. I am knitting the sleeves in the round and the pattern calls for one increase before and after the maker. What is the best way to do this?

Also, I am concerned about the size of the sleeve. It seems a bit tight for my dad. Will blocking loosen the fit a bit. I’m using Knitpick’s bulky Wool of the Andes. Thanks for any help you can give me

Something I came across but haven’t tried yet, is to locate the three stitches at the center of the sleeve, on the join side. Place a marker on either side of these and they will be your increase markers. So you begin the round, k1, sm, inc in next st (like kfb), knit around to the stitch before the next marker, inc in that one.
